This week’s Vegan Eat Of The Week is a vegan pop-up restaurant, SuperDoux. As with all pop-ups you will want to get along before they move elsewhere. Just to add to that sense of urgency, they areĀ are switching to their summer menu at the beginning of May and in any case only use seasonal foods to minimise waste.Ā That means that their signature vegan pies will only be available for the next three weeks – so get them while they’re hot!

After they are planning to offer lighter dishes, but until the lazy summer months begin, SuperDoux’s owner, Brightonian chef Sophie Adler-Mckean, is offeringĀ big plates of comforting tasty winter food to help you through that familiar Brighton chill.

” … vegan pies will only be available for the next three weeks – so get them while they’re hot!”

Pie fillings change every week, but typical fare includes rosemary, leek and potato pie, heaps of fluffy mash, minty peas and ‘cheezy polenta fries’. Most of the meals are British fare with a vegan twist, but SuperDoux have also successfully experimented with Mexican burritos, French cuisine and a variety of other dishes based on their own travels.

The restaurant is openĀ on Thursdays and Fridays in The Admiral Pub, which is itself well known for its relaxed atmosphere and convivial staff.Ā SuperDoux’s Facebook page advertises the menus for the coming week, so be sure to check those out and plan in advance.

SuperDoux also runs successful pop-up restaurants at other venues across Brighton, as well as supper clubs and one off events. They are available for personal parties and even bake beautiful personalised cakes. They are clearly getting things right as they have a 4.9 overall rating on Facebook. Here are some of the reviews:

‘Me and my friend went down to the admiral for dinner tonight courtesy of Super Doux to try the vegan pies, we were not disappointed! I had the curried parsnip lentil with minted peas and it was gorgeous. My friend had the Mexican burrito pie and it was delicious, stacked high with goodness. The gravy was thick and flavoursome, but the polenta fries … Wow!’

‘Attended Sophie’s vegan supper club tonight. Both the food and service were fantastic and to top it all off we met some fantastic people. Amazing night, will definitely be coming along to the next one!’

The Admiral itself serves the usual range of pub beverages and has a good reputation in terms of real ale and craft beer, with a 4.5 rating on Tripadvisor and 4.9 on Facebook. If you are looking for good quality, wholesome vegan food to blow away those winter blues in a pleasant pub atmosphere then this is the place for you!
