The Rocky Horror Show struts into Theatre Royal Brighton with a talented cast, iconic songs and a buzzing audience who are ready to join in with hilarious heckles.
Natasha Hoeberigs kicks things off as the Usherette, performing Science Fiction Double Feature perfectly and later returning as Columbia. Brad and Janet, played by Connor Carson and Lauren Chia, bring the right amount of awkward charm. Their chemistry works, their vocals soar and they throw themselves into the chaos with gusto.
As soon as Job Greuter’s Riff Raff creeps onto the stage, you know you’re in safe hands. His voice is powerful and his physical comedy earns genuine laughs. Then comes the moment everyone’s waiting for, the Time Warp. The audience is instantly on its feet, dancing and belting out the words like they’re at a gig.
Adam Strong is a confident and cheeky Frank n Furter. He makes the role his own, strutting through Sweet Transvestite and owning each scene he’s in. His voice is rich and gorgeous, soaring through the theatre and giving everyone goose bumps during I’m Going Home.
Jackie Clune also shines as the Narrator, firing back at hecklers with perfect timing and a wicked grin, especially when she’s delivering the naughtiest innuendos.
A big part of what makes The Rocky Horror Show so entertaining is the audience. They sing, shout, heckle and throw in cheeky one-liners, turning the show into an interactive experience. The energy is contagious.
Morgan Jackson’s Rocky flexes through the show with energy and killer dance moves, and Edward Bullingham brings punch to both Eddie and Dr Scott. The Phantoms provide gorgeous backing vocals and perform the effective choreography effortlessly.
The show gets a well-deserved standing ovation at the encore. Despite being 50 years old, The Rocky Horror Show still knows how to throw a party.
