Brighton and Hove Albion have today allowed England u21 International midfield Jake Forster-Caskey to join Rotherham United on loan for the season.
The midfielder who is now 22, has started 50 league games for the Albion since breaking through from the club’s youth system. Forster-Caskey step-son of former Seagulls Legend Nicky Forster has become a fans favourite since his Albion debut in 2010.
The technically gifted midfielder has also enjoyed loan speaks at Oxford United and most recently last season with the Milton Keynes Dons.
Forster-Caskey will now be unavailable for selection in both ties against his parent club meaning he will miss Albion’s match-ups against Rotherham on 16 August and 7 March.
Forster-Caskey became Albion’s youngest ever player when he made his first-team debut, aged 16, in the 2009-10 season.
Manager Chris Hughton told the Seagulls.co.uk: “An opportunity has arisen for Jake to gain regular Championship football again, which benefits all three parties.”
This has come after Huddersfield midfielder Dean Whitehead turned down the Millers in favour for fighting for his place at the John Smith Stadium.
