One of Brighton’s most popular LGBT-friendly nightspots has closed its doors.
Bustling gay party bar Poison Ivy hosted an epic seven-hour cabaret closing party last Sunday to say farewell to punters. Some of Brighton’s best and brightest queens including Electric Blue, Candi Rell and Linda Bacardi sung out the St James’ Street venue in style.
The popular bar has played host to many a live karaoke night, and made headlines in December 2015 with its decadent 50,000 fairy light Christmas decorations which were aptly called ‘forever Christmas’.
But is it really curtains for good for the Ivy? Manager Lee Cockshott told fans of the venue on social media he was working on a new project and customers should “watch this space”. Another member of staff called the closure “the start of new beginnings’, telling visitors to “have patience”.
