BRIGHTON — A marriage proposal on Brighton seafront became one of the defining images of On The Beach 2026 this weekend, when a couple got engaged in the middle of the crowd as Madness played the festival’s Madrophenia show.

The proposal happened on the sand at Madeira Drive, in front of thousands of people, with the band on stage behind them. She said yes. The crowd around them erupted.
