For many years a night at the movies has been a popular choice for an evening’s entertainment. Watching the latest blockbusters whilst polishing off a giant tub of popcorn before the film has even begun – yes, we’ve all been there.

As long as films continue to hit our cinema screens,we will continue to pay money and feed our addiction for Hollywood’s latest productions. There is, however, one stumbling block in all of this – the escalation of ticket prices that generates discomfort amongst a number of keen moviegoers.

Stepping forward to ease all those fears is Worthing’s very own Dome Cinema.

First opened in 1911, the Edwardian Grade II listed cinma is still showing films over 100 years on and offers fantastic value for money compared to branded cinema operators across the UK.

That is not to say that there is anything wrong with the prices cinema chains charge for their enormous screens, comfortable seats and impressive sound clarity.  However many people would be more than happy to trade luxury for a lower priced ticket.

This is where the Dome Cinema deserves recognition. The stunning architecture inside the old fashioned building makes up for the high level of technology the cinema cannot compete with. However,  the picture is still crystal clear, tje sound quality is indisputable,  and the cinema does a fine job with limited funding.

It has two screens that show a variety of films throughout the week and a fully-licensed bar inside the main lobby for customers who fancy discussing the film over an alcoholic beverage.

Movie lovers can enjoy ‘Bargain Monday’ where tickets cost only £3 and ‘App Wednesday’ where showing the cinema’s mobile application on your phone secures a ticket for £3.50.

Compare The Market customers can enjoy ‘Meerkat Movies’ on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, where they’ll receive 2-for-1 tickets and watch the latest blockbusters at half price.

If you’re not lucky enough to catch one of these deals, the standard prices throughout the rest of the week are still impressive compared to the pricey tickets you would have to buy at the equivalent Odeon.

All tickets before 5pm are frozen at £5, with later showings costing £6.50 for adults, whilst students can enjoy a fixed rate of £3.50 at any time of the day.

Prices remain at £5 for senior citizens and throughout the week specialised screenings are available including disability friendly, parent & baby and midweek matinees at reduced rates.

The Dome Cinema gives you the opportunity to enjoy the latest films in stunning surroundings. The affordable prices for both film and food make it a comfortable night out, as you get value for money in a building that boasts a beautiful interior and rich history.
