Brighton is often affectionately referred to as spiritual home of the Mods — a scene shaped in no small part by iconic British band The Kinks. With original story, music and lyrics by the legendary Ray Davies, SUNNY AFTERNOON brings the swinging 60s roaring back to life, charting the electrifying story behind The Kinks and their tumultuous rise to fame.

This December, the show will play Theatre Royal Brighton for three weeks of feel-good festive fun, bringing with it rock’n’roll energy and plenty of The Kinks’ greatest hits including You Really Got MeLola and All Day and All of the Night.

Speaking to BBC South East Today, Danny Horn said: “The Kinks and Brighton have got this shared history, this culture. They were kind of the godfathers of the Mod scene, along with The Who, and they were always greeted by Brighton like they were one of their own, even though they were from North London. So, coming here with the show now, all these years later to the Mod scene, it feels full circle. The Kinks are coming home to Brighton.”

Directed by Edward Hall, with a book from Joe Penhall, Sunny Afternoon is a thrilling celebration of rock ‘n’ roll, rebellion, and the anthems that still move us today.

SUNNY AFTERNOON will play Theatre Royal Brighton from Wed 17 Dec 2025 – Sat 3 Jan 2026. Tickets are available via ATGtickets.com/Brighton.
