Sussex Police have released CCTV images of a man they believe to have raped a woman in her home during Great Escape Festival earlier this year, and are looking for help in identifying him.

The suspect, who said he was called ‘Will’, met the 26-year-old female victim at Sticky Mike’s Frog Bar on Middle Street on Saturday 19th May. The pair were both attending the Great Escape Music Festival, which runs annually in Brighton, over the course of an entire weekend.

Police have released CCTV images in the hope of identifying the suspect.

‘Will’ was in Brighton with friends, who he left to go to the victim’s flat in a taxi. It was at her home that he raped her, before leaving first thing in the morning. He reportedly claimed to be going to station and returning to London when he left, but this has not been confirmed.

He is described as being white, with receding mousey brown hair and a full beard. He is thought to have a slim build and to stand at approximately 5’8 – 5’9, with silver facial piercings.

Detective Constable Suzy MacLintock, who is investigating the reports, has said: “Do you recognise this man? Do you remember being in Sticky Mike’s that night? It was very busy, but the silver facial piercings might just jog your memory.”

Anyone with any information about the man’s identity or his activity across the course of Great Escape Festival, which took place from 17th – 19th May 2018 is urged to get in touch with the police, either online or by calling 101, quoting serial 435 of 24/05.
