A sleepy town in West Sussex was the centre for a substantial drug bust by Sussex Police. Large quantities of cannabis were discovered at a house in Toddington Lane, Wick, near Littlehampton after a strong smell was reported.

On Sunday 17th June more than 600 plants were uncovered in the property. These possess a street value of approximately £477,000. A police drone, helicopter and dog unit helped to capture the culprits after they had fled the property.

The pair, a 19 and 28-year-old man, were both arrested on suspicion of producing a class B drug. The elder of the two has also been arrested for the abstraction or use of a class B drug.

The two men were discovered to be Albanian nationals who had entered the country illegally. They are now currently in the custody of the Home Office where they will remain until their immigration cases are handled.

Danny West, a Prevention Inspector for Sussex Police, has given his appreciation for the publics help: “We would like to extend our thanks to the members of the public for coming forward with the initial information.”

West has also spoken proudly of the magnitude of the bust: “This is an excellent result for Sussex Police in taking such a large quantity of drugs off the streets.”
