Proving that pantomime isn’t just for Christmas, The Adventures of Peter Pan is still lighting up the stage at Eastbourne’s Devonshire Park Theatre, audiences and critics alike have praised the production for being joyous fun and calling it a West End-Level show*. The costumes and sets are colourful and sparkly, a brilliantly talented cast bring plenty of laughs plus a rocking live band blast the cobwebs away and bring the atmosphere.
With a cast which features Eastbourne favourites Tucker as pirate Smee, Martyn Knight as Mrs Smee and Lewes Roberts as the dashing and dastardly Captain Hook, along with new names for Eastbourne Angus Benstead as the boy who never wants to grow-up Peter Pan, Ella Bracci in the role of Wendy, Jessica Aubrey is the scene stealing Mrytle the Mermaid plus Lola and Mrs Darling with Gabriella Gilliat as the loveable sprite Tink, plus the ensemble team of performers and dancers which includes; Lyndan Barclay, Bebe Fox, Rhiannon Mackay and Sam Scott.
The cast are ably supported by the hard-working Young Company of dancers and performers who all come from the local area and were handpicked after an intensive audition process.
The award-winning creative team return Writer and Director Chris Jordan plus Musical Director Bob Broad, Musical Supervisor Robert Cousins and Chris Gardiner along with Choreographer Matt Nicholson, the Wardrobe team led by Grace Velvick and Rachel Meech, with lighting design once again by Ryan Tate and sound design by Charlie Tipler.
The tale of the boy who never wants to grow-up is given a new twist in this production, but while the story might be slightly different the ethos remains the same, which includes a percentage of its profits being donated to Great Ormond Street.
