Meet Lady Clementine. From shipwrecks to guillotines, bad luck has plagued her love life from day one. When her latest beau, Sir Bradley, goes missing, she sets off on a quest to solve the mystery of her ill-fortune. Guided by the stars, she soon finds out she’s been searching for love in all the wrong places. Set roughly “in the past”, expect dashing dandies, sickly sisters and many, many, many letters. Not for men. (Unless you’re a single Leo in possession of a good fortune).

This is a one-woman character comedy show about self-esteem, single life and Sylvanian families. Through storytelling, interactive exploration, music and comedy, Clementine provides an abstract, feel-good, empowering ode to womanhood with a dash of history and an eclectic mix of pop-culture references.

Navigating one’s queerness is a lifelong odyssey! Three-time Prague Fringe Award nominee John Arthur Sweet makes his second appearance in Brighton with an autobiographical two-part mélange of theatrical monologue, storytelling, and spoken word. This is the tale of a gay, bullied, smalltown Canadian kid who found refuge in theatre.

The show is in two stand-alone parts: Part I (Childhood) and Part II (Adulthood).

Reviews from John’s last show: “Sweet doesn’t waste a word, each image is perfectly crafted to get his story across and his voice wouldn’t be out of place in a bedtime audiobook.” (Prague Youth Theatre).
