Brighton Fringe 2027 is officially open for business. Registrations for next May’s festival open at 12pm on Wednesday 14 October, inviting artists, venues, programmers and community groups from Brighton, across the UK and around the world to take part in one of the largest open-access arts festivals anywhere.
Why Register for Brighton Fringe 2027
Open access means anyone who wants to perform can, and the numbers show how far that approach stretches. The 2026 festival presented 272 premieres, 864 events and 2,814 performances, and the Fringe estimates it helps bring 2.8 million visitors to the city each May.
For artists, the festival points to more than 50 development opportunities, including bursaries and awards. For venues, it describes the Fringe as a proven catalyst for growth, drawing new audiences who keep coming back through the year.
There’s also a practical reason to move quickly. According to Artist and Venue Manager Laura Aiton, registering early means a show is included in the first wave of public ticket sales.
The Registration Launch Event
To mark the opening, Brighton Fringe will host a launch event at The Old Market in Hove on Thursday 15 October, from 6pm to 8pm, with guests asked to arrive from 5.30pm. It’s a chance to meet the new team, hear updates and future plans, and network informally over a drink.
Three announcements are planned for the evening:
- A rebranded, expanded support hub for artists and venues, bringing together registration guides, venue-matching resources and practical toolkits
- A new series of professional development workshops on self-producing and developing work for the Fringe and beyond
- An exclusive preview of the 2027 key artwork by Brighton artist Dave Pop!, part of a new initiative commissioning local talent to design each festival’s look
Dave Pop! says he’s “chuffed to bits” to be involved, adding that living in Brighton is central to his work.
