Following an autumn packed full of thrilling plays and dazzling musicals, Theatre Royal Brighton is delighted to launch its new Winter season What’s On Guide.

The coming season brings a host of world class theatre to Brighton’s stage, including multi award-winning West End productions, brand-new stage adaptations, unmissable musicals and family-friendly favourites. Brighton audiences can look forward to unforgettable performances that promise to entertain, inspire and warm up the winter months.

The Colonnade Bar, Theatre Royal Brighton’s in-house pub, is also pleased to launch their brand-new Winter Cocktail Menu for the festive season. Cocktail specials include Ye Ole Fashioned, a warming whiskey and cinnamon tipple, and the Espresso Jingle-tini, a Christmas twist on everyone’s favourite coffee classic. ATG+ members can also enjoy 10% off in The Colonnade Bar.

Theatre Royal Brighton’s Theatre Director, Sophie Denney, said: “We are so excited to present our new season, with so many fantastic shows and events on offer. Whether you’re one of our regular theatregoers or visiting us for the first time, this season has something for everyone. We look forward to welcoming you for an incredible winter of live entertainment.”

This December, the multi award-winning musical SUNNY AFTERNOON will play for three electrifying weeks over the festive period from Wed 17 Dec – Sat 3 Jan. Then, in January,Theatre Royal Brighton’s stage will host the world premiere of SINGLE WHITE FEMALE, starring Kym Marsh and Lisa Faulkner, before Out of Chaos’ innovative, “24-carat” (The Guardian) two-person take on Shakespeare’s MACBETH returns for a strictly limited run.

ELLEN KENT: THE FAREWELL TOUR — Carmen (Tue 27 Jan ) & Madama Butterfly (Wed 28 Jan)

Opera

Senbla presents Ellen Kent’s Farewell Opera Tour featuring Opera International Kyiv, Ukraine, with highly praised soloists and full orchestra. Bizet’s Carmen promises an evening of passion, sexual jealousy, death and unforgettable arias, while Puccini’s Madama Butterfly brings one of the world’s most popular operas to the Brighton stage — the heart-breaking story of the beautiful young Japanese girl who falls in love with an American naval lieutenant.

VARNA INTERNATIONAL BALLET — Cinderella (Thu 29 Jan), The Nutcracker (Fri 30 Jan) & Swan Lake (Sat 31 Jan)

Ballet

RG Live presents the return of the celebrated Varna International Ballet and Orchestra to Theatre Royal Brighton, with a trio of stunning ballets. Founded in 1947 and renowned for its award-winning soloists and magnificent corps de ballet, Varna International Ballet has been delighting audiences for decades at home in Bulgaria and abroad with performances of the highest quality.

MIDSOMER MURDERS: THE KILLINGS AT BADGER’S DRIFT (Tue 3 – Sat 7 Feb)

Spend an evening in England’s deadliest county… Murder comes to the countryside in the theatrical world premiere of the critically acclaimed television favourite Midsomer MurdersDaniel Casey, who created the role of Sergeant Troy in ITV’s Midsomer Murders, now returns to play the role of Inspector Tom Barnaby in this classic whodunnit.

BLOOD BROTHERS (Tue 10 – Sat 14 Feb)

Written by Willy Russell, the legendary Blood Brothers tells the captivating and moving tale of twins who, separated at birth, grow up on opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with fateful consequences.

THE CONSTANT WIFE (Mon 23 – Sat 28 Feb)

Play

The Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of The Constant Wife comes to Brighton prior to the West End. Starring Kara Tointon (Mr Selfridge, Strictly Come Dancing), this sparkling production is adapted by Olivier Award-winner Laura Wade (Home, I’m Darling; Rivals) from Somerset Maugham’s glittering comedy, and originally opened in Stratford upon Avon to marvellous reviews and sold every seat.

BARNUM (Tue 3 – Sat 7 Mar)

Musical

Lee Mead (Wicked, Legally Blonde) stars as the world’s greatest showman in Barnum: The Circus Musical. Step right up and enter the dazzling world of P.T. Barnum, where imagination and ambition know no bounds. Hand in hand with wife Charity, Barnum’s life and career twists and turns as he schemes and dreams his way to headier heights.

DOUBLE INDEMNITY (Tue 10 – Sat 14 Mar)

Hollywood icon Mischa Barton (The O.C.) makes her UK stage debut in Double Indemnity, the gripping adaptation of one of the greatest crime novels of the 20th Century – the story that inspired Billy Wilder’s film noir classic.

AGATHA CHRISTIE’S DEATH ON THE NILE (Tue 31 – Sat 4 Apr)

Bitter rivals. Buried secrets. A love to die for. On board a luxurious cruise under the heat of the Egyptian sun, a couple’s idyllic honeymoon is cut short by a brutal murder. Following the sell-out tour of Murder on the Orient Express, the European premiere of this thrilling production reunites writer Ken Ludwig, director Lucy Bailey (Witness for the Prosecution) and Fiery Angel.
