Take a break from Christmas shopping this weekend as we’ve got a list of some of the best things going on around Brighton and Hove this weekend.
Beach Hut Advent Calendar: The beach huts situated along Hove seafront are getting a new look this December as many are taking party in the life-sized advent calendar event. 24 huts have opened their doors for one day only during December to reveal specially decorated huts. Some of the owners even put on quizzes and stage performances.
Arena: Night and Day: Part of CINECITY, this twenty-four-hour visual journey follows the pattern of day and night in sync with British wintertime. With over six hundred films, Arena has a varied archive with the series featuring some of the most significant cultural figures of our time included Nelson Mandela, Orson Welles and The Beatles. You can see the entire twenty-four-hour sequence from the street at all hours.
Small Business Saturday: Celebrated across the UK, Small Business Saturday aims to support, inspire and promote small businesses all year round. The initiative started in America but has now been adopted by the UK, and is something Brightonians should be taking part in, as many of our lovely shops are independent.
Lewes Enchanted Park: Each night from 4:30pm onwards, the historic Southover Grange Gardens in Lewes will host A Christmas Wish – a magic and mesmerising mix of outdoor projections, illuminations, performance and art installations. Created by Ross Ashton & Karen Monid, the artists behind the projections on Buckingham Palace during the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012, visitors will see ancient trees become living pieces of art.
