Step back into the Golden Age of Steam at this year’s much-anticipated Trains at Speed – Vintage Train Running Day, taking place on Saturday 14th June. From 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM, visitors will be treated to an extraordinary display of streamlined 1930s locomotives, including legendary models such as the Mallard, Silver King, Coronation, and many more.
This special one-day event is a celebration of speed, style, and steam, offering a rare and intimate look at some of the most iconic engines ever built.
After a brief delay earlier this year due to a knee operation, Museum Founder and Director Chris Littledale makes his much-welcomed return. He’ll be personally operating and presenting his favourite engines throughout the day.
“Thank you to everyone who wished me a speedy recovery! This year’s event may be a little late, but it will be better than ever. We’ll be focusing on speed, and these iconic locomotives are not only fast but incredibly glamorous — a true glimpse into a bygone era of rail travel.”
– Chris Littledale, Museum Founder and Director
As an added treat, for this day only, the museum will remove protective screens from its renowned 0-gauge layout, offering visitors a rare, behind-the-scenes view of these intricate machines in full motion.
