A violent robbery has been reported at Phoenix Place, Brighton. Police are now appealing for witnesses or evidence to help with a prosecution. Early on Saturday (July 16) an 18-year-old-man was walking to his home address with his 17 year old girlfriend and another girl, aged 16. Upon turning onto Pheonix Place he was confronted by a 19-year-old man who was known to the victim.

The suspect went on to punch the victim in the face before forcing him to the ground stealing his mobile phone in the process. During the incident he also stole his girlfriends phone. The suspect then went on to flee the scene.

It’s lucky the victim wasn’t injured too severely during the incident and it was a huge bonus he was able to get in contact with police so promptly.

Sussex Police are appealing to anyone who may have any information with regards to the assault and robbery. Sussex Police have today revealed they have arrested a 19-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and bailed him until August 30 while enquiries continue. Phoenix place is particularly popular on a Saturday night so it’s believed someone would have seen something.

Anyone who saw what happened or may have seen the robber making off is asked to email [email protected] or phone 101, with the reference 58 of 16/07.

Alternatively, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
