Iconic singer-songwriter Wendy James, the former frontwoman of the chart-topping band Transvision Vamp, has announced a nationwide UK tour this October to celebrate the release of her critically acclaimed new album The Shape of History. Brighton fans can catch her live performance at Patterns, Brighton, on Thursday 30th October 2025.

Written, produced, and mixed by Wendy herself, The Shape of History marks a major milestone as her tenth solo album, further cementing her legacy as one of British music’s most distinctive and enduring voices. The album was recorded between West London and New York City, blending the grit of punk with melodic intricacy, and is now available digitally, as well as in deluxe vinyl and CD formats.

James will be hitting the road with a full live band, delivering a dynamic and career-spanning set that dives into the heart of her musical evolution. The tour promises to be a rare treat, featuring songs from across her entire catalogue—from the infectious pop anthems of Transvision Vamp, to the lo-fi experimentalism of Racine, the high-gloss energy of Queen High Straight, and the bold, cinematic sweep of The Shape of History.

Joining Wendy on stage is an exceptional lineup of musicians, including Jim Sclavunos (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Grinderman) on drums and Alex Ward (This Is Not This Heat, N.E.W.) on guitar, both of whom bring a raw, compelling energy to her live sound.

Speaking about the tour, Wendy James says:
“The Shape of History is a record I’m deeply proud of – it encapsulates everything I’ve experienced and imagined. To take this album on the road, playing new tracks alongside songs from every stage of my career, is going to be incredible. The Brighton show at Patterns will be a special night – I can’t wait to see everyone there.”
