Stuck for ideas this Mother’s Day weekend? We’re here to help. As part of our weekly recommendations for you, we’re going to hand-pick a place around Brighton to raise your weekend up to the next level.

This week’s winner is: The Pavilion Gardens

Brighton’s stunning Pavilion Gardens are the perfect backdrop for a sunny stroll with your mum through gorgeous collections of charming yellow daffodils, blooming violets and other colourful flowers.

On the Pavilion lawn itself, one can usually see cute couples leaning on one another, circles of friends laughing, Frisbee throwers running, and dogs being walked.

There are gently swaying trees standing in the open grass areas that wrap around the exotic Pavilion, and the greenery extends all the way to New Road where the instruments of a diverse range of interesting and unintrusive buskers can often be heard.

It should be bright according to the weather forecast, but the Pavilion Café has got you covered should you start freezing to death – they serve hot drinks throughout the day, and have plenty of seats for you and your mum.

The inside of the Pavilion itself will also be open to you as our town’s most eye-catching and top-rated attraction, and if you’re a Brighton resident you can get a greatly discounted admission* – just remember to bring a proof of address.

And when you’re done, you can treat your mum to the best meal ever invented – the Sunday roast, at the nearby cosy Royal Pavilion Tavern.

Royal Pavilion 10am–5.15pm, admission: £5.25-£10.50
