Friday – BEATABET SEASON #2 @The Rose Hill
The second event in the second Beatabet season of performances at The Rose Hill…!!
The mighty Official Burnt Toast, leftfield candian hip-hop veterans spit lyrics over jazz-infused drum patterns. Feel good extraodinaire.
Main support from Howlround: mesmerising live tape manipulations, using the entire space to run loops of tape which feed back on each other. A warm analogue aural bath. First coming to prominence with hugely-acclaimed 2012 LP The Ghosts Of Bush, Howlround create recordings and performances entirely from manipulating natural acoustic sounds on vintage reel-to-reel tape machines, with additional reverb or electronic effects strictly forbidden – a process that has seen their work compared to William Basinski, Philip Jeck, Morton Feldman and even the sculptures of Rachel Whiteread’
SkpeSong. An acapella kurdish song performed by Mizgina live from Germany.
David McWizard may or may not make an appearance.
