Friday – African Night Fever Presents: Zong Zing All Stars – Christmas Party! @Ropetackle Arts Centre
Hailing from the Democratic Republic Of Congo, the Zong Zing All Stars describe their music as ‘perfect’ for a sunny day at a festival. Infectious and energetic, their soukous music is a blend of vocal harmonies, guitar picking, and dynamic rhythms.
This nine-piece are as much about the dancing as the music, and between them have a wealth of stage experience having played with the likes of the Orchestra Virunga of Samba Mapangala and OK Jazz of Franco Makiadi.
In recent years the Zong Zing All Stars have modernised their take on soukous music, blending it with the rhythms and innovation of ‘New Africa’ and making their style unique and easy to dance to.
This evening promises to take you on a wonderful musical journey across Africa, and remember to bring your best dancing shoes.
Delicious Afro-Caribbean food will also be on sale from Brighton’s very own Cummin Up chefs. Limited seating.

Saturday – Roller Derby Special @Brighton Dome
Roller derby is the fastest growing sport in the world. Played on roller skates it’s a high impact, high scoring, full contact sport.
Come and take advantage of this unique opportunity to see Brighton’s home team – the Brighton Rockers – play in the historic Brighton Dome Corn Exchange, itself once a popular roller skating rink back in the 1870s, before transformation starts on the Grade-1 listed building as part of our upcoming redevelopment plans.
In this full-on Christmas special, Team Black will be going up against Team Blue – in a Brighton v. Brighton bout. See some of Brighton’s favourite skaters, and the new up and coming rookies battle it out on the track. With DJs, bands, kids’ games, face painting and half-time entertainment.
