Bjournal love talking to local bloggers, and this week we chatted to Mar, otherwise known as Little Chica. Mar runs a lifestyle, fashion and beauty blog and has been living in Brighton for four years. After studying Advertising and PR at Alicante University in Spain, Mar made Brighton her home and has run her blog for almost a year now.
What made you decide to run a lifestyle blog?
I wanted a blog for ages, but I was always too busy. One of my New Year’s resolutions was to create a blog so I just decided to do it! I work in digital marketing so being in touch with bloggers is part of my daily routine, and I always wanted to be one of them.
How do you find the time to regularly update the blog?
I’m not going to lie, it’s hard. I normally take the pictures on the weekends as the light is much better (especially at this time of the year). If I have time I also write the posts, if not, I’ll do after work during the week.
I try to post between 1-2 times a week, I don’t think I could post every day while having a full-time job, as much as would like to.
What advice would you give to anyone wanting to start a blog?
Go ahead and do it! It’s so much fun, and you get to meet fantastic people along the way too. Be yourself and don’t pretend to be someone that you aren’t. Enjoy every part of blogging, from writing, taking the pictures and posting.
Could you tell us what’s in your handbag?
Everything! Hahaha no… seriously, I always try to wear small handbags, otherwise I fill them with lots of things I never use. Most of the things I have in my handbag are make-up products such as lipstick, eyeliner, highlighter, etc. I also have hand cream, a nail file, hair bands and my mobile – although most of the time this last one is in my hand or pocket.
What are your essential beauty items?
I always keep my essential makeup items in my handbag; I even have my ‘handbag makeup bag’!
My beauty essentials: lipstick, eyeliner, highlighter and bronzer. With these four items you can create more makeup looks than you think.
Finally, what do you love the most about Brighton?
The thing I love the most about Brighton is the diversity. You can find people from all ages, nationalities and styles living in the same city. I also love how artistic the city is, with graffiti walls and young bands playing on the streets.
