Tom Sandham and Ben McFarland (aka The Thinking Drinkers), the world’s most entertaining alcohol connoisseurs are delighted to announce that, due to popular demand, they have extended the tour of their brand new show into 2024.

“A WELCOME ANTIDOTE TO THE PRETENTIOUSNESS OF WINE BUFFS, REAL ALE FANS & SPIRITS SNOBS” Chortle

Combining comedy with a high-octane quiz and an enlightening, educational drinks tasting, the Thinking Drinkers Pub Quiz: Fancy Another Round blows the froth off traditional tastings and is the only quiz where you get given all the answers!

As the audience compete head-to-head, with a quiz sheet and pencil in one hand and a selection of damn fine drinks in the other, Ben McFarland and Tom Sandham lead them gently on an illuminating, intoxicating and hilarious exploration of alcohol’s influence on every aspect of humanity and prove that a lot of the answers to life’s most important questions can, in fact, be discovered at the bottom of the glass.

“BEN AND TOM ILLUMINATED, EDUCATED, AND INTOXICATED THE CROWD. THE SHOW IS BOTH HUGELY FUNNY AND GENUINELY FASCINATING” ★★★★ Edinburgh Evening News

“It’s as funny as it is fascinating, and it’s really funny. You’ll laugh a lot, you’ll learn loads, everyone enjoys five first-class drinks and even if you’re a bit thick, you can still win the quiz.”

“PIONEERS OF ALCOHOL BASED COMEDY” Sunday Times

Ben McFarland

“You guys are so lucky. Yet again, we’re giving you some great gear this year. If you were to buy Black Cow Pure Milk Vodka, Budweiser Budvar, Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva Rum, Lost Explorer Mezcal & The London Essence Grapefruit Soda in a bar, it’d cost you more than £25 and you wouldn’t get to hang out with the hardest working beefcakes in drinks-related comedy theatre.”

“THERE’S NO MORE DISCERNING WAY TO FALL OFF THE WAGON” Time Out

Ben and Tom first collaborated in 2006 when they wrote Good Beer Guide West Coast USA – an award-winning travel guide and craft beer lover’s compendium of the world’s most cutting-edge brewing scene. Other books followed including World’s Best Beers, World’s Best Cocktails, Boutique Beer and Thinking Drinkers: The Enlightened Imbiber’s Guide to Alcohol. Their latest book The Thinking Drinkers Almanac (Octopus Publishing) was named Drinks Book Of The Year 2021 by The Times and The Sunday Times.

In 2011 they transferred their expertise and unique take on alcohol from the editorial page to the comedy stage with their first critically acclaimed show The Thinking Drinker’s Guide to Alcohol. The show transferred to London’s iconic Soho Theatre and since then they have regularly toured the UK, which lead to them being named Industry Communicators of the Year by Imbibe Magazine in 2018. They have also been regular drinks writers and columnists at The Times, The Telegraph, The Spectator, The National Geographic and Metro.
