On Saturday the 30th of March 2019, hundreds of millions of people across the globe will be switching off their lights for Earth hour, to show support in the fight to save our planet.
“We are the first generation to know we are destroying the world. And we could be the last that can do anything about it. We have the solutions, we just need our voices to be heard.”
Earth Hour, which was created by WWF will unite people everywhere in portraying the powerful message that we need to put the world back on a path to recovery. Global landmarks such as The Sydney Opera House, Empire State Building, The Eiffel Tower, Buckingham Palace and Edinburgh Castle, will all be switching off their lights to show their commitment to the planet.
Last year hundreds of millions of people took part in Earth Hour, over ten million in the UK alone. WWF state that this visual show of support has helped them find solutions for the environmental challenges that we face across the world, including ‘influencing national climate policies, planting new forests in Uganda, and banning plastic in the Galapago.’
“Many of us feel powerless in the face of overwhelming threats to the planet. But when we all come together for Earth Hour, we create a strong voice that can change things for the better.”
