Happy New Year from all at Komedia Brighton!
We’ve got a whole host of events to brighten up even the gloomiest of cold January days, from comedy to cabaret, music to magic, cowboys to kid’s shows – you name it.
COMEDY
Character comedian Rory Marshall brings us his debut show (17 Jan), Gearóid Farrelly follows his mammoth ‘Glamour Hammer’ tour with a hilarious new stand-up show (22 Jan), BBC Galton & Simpson comedy winner Grace Mulvey brings us new work in progress (21 Jan), and after a sold-out, rave-reviewed tour last year, our cover star Esther Manito is back with a bang (31 Jan).
Our Komedia New Comedy Award, in association with Comic Boom Comedy Club and Victoria Nangle returns for 2026, with Semi Finals taking place throughout January. Each heat features a select nine new comics chosen from hundreds of entries. Come and see the best up and coming talent in the country before they hit the big time!
MUSIC
How about a night of punk, grunge, and hard rock to kick off your gig diary for 2026, with the Matted, Left Ventricle, SNM showcase (9 Jan). Luch Stefano returns with his heartfelt melodies and powerful lyrics (10 Jan), Canadian JUNO Award-winning folk-pop singer-songwriter Rose Cousins pays us a visit (19 Jan), and North Sea Radio Orchestra and The Witching Tale bring us classical composition, folk, minimalism, art rock, and electronica (25 Jan).
CLUB NIGHTS
Get your body moving at one of our club nights. Our fave alternative 80s Night Spellbound is back with a Goth Special (17 Jan), we host a huge night of No Future DJs spinning a heavy serving of Lil Peep amongst other alt rap at the Live Forever: Lil Peep Appreciation Night (31 Jan), and expect the best of Reggae, Roots, Ska, Rocksteady and Lovers Rock at The Brighton Moon-Hop (31 Jan).
KIDS SHOWS
For families with young children, Story Magic returns every Friday with music, movement and storytelling fun. You can also enjoy children’s theatre show The Goose and Mrs Frost, a craft workshop and live music from Swing Ninjas at Sundae Club (25 Jan).
OTHER
Other events to catch include a night of wonder with magician James Phelan (4, 5 & 20 Jan), Hotpipe Hillbillies – a locally-made film about a tight-knit group of surfers in Shoreham (22 Jan), Chaps & Straps – Queer Line Dancing (27 Jan), camp cult hit Solve-Along-A-Murder-She-Wrote (28 Jan), and poet Luke Wright, who brings us a warm and honest hour of poems and stand-up (29 Jan).
