The Brighton Centre has announced that Shen Yun will bring its 2027 production to the seafront venue for four performances across three days in early January, with tickets going on sale next Friday.
The New York-based company presents a programme of classical Chinese dance and music, performed to a live orchestra that combines a Western string section with traditional Chinese instruments including the erhu and the pipa. Shen Yun creates an entirely new production each year, so audiences who have seen the company before will find a different programme. Performances typically feature short narrative dance pieces, solo vocalists and instrumentalists, and animated digital backdrops used as a moving set.
Founded in 2006, the company describes its mission as reviving classical Chinese dance traditions and presenting them to international audiences. It now tours several companies simultaneously, playing theatres and arenas across Europe, North America and Asia each season.
Dates
The Brighton dates run Sunday 3 January 2027 at 6pm, Monday 4 January at 2pm and 7pm, and Tuesday 5 January at 2pm. Tickets start at £77.50 and go on general sale on Friday 31 July 2026 at 10am through the Brighton Centre box office.
The first week of January is one of the quietest points in the city’s calendar, and four performances in three days is a substantial booking for that window. Two of the four are matinees, which makes the run accessible for families and for coach parties travelling in from across Sussex and the wider south coast. The Brighton Centre sits on Kings Road, a ten-minute walk from Brighton station and a couple of minutes from the Lanes, so the afternoon shows leave time for lunch beforehand or the seafront afterwards.
It also continues a busy period for the venue, which has already announced Morrissey for December 2026 and Disney’s The Muppet Christmas Carol in concert earlier that same month. Shen Yun’s January run means the Brighton Centre goes almost straight from its Christmas programme into the new year, following a 2026 schedule that included Westlife and Soul II Soul.
