A Letter in the Attic

The new single tells the story of how Alfie’s parents met. His dad fell for his mum in a single night, but she already had a boyfriend, so he wrote her a letter telling her how he felt.

“And somehow, it worked,” says Alfie. “Years later, I found the original letter tucked away in our attic. Knowing that this tiny piece of paper had ultimately led to me existing felt pretty surreal. I couldn’t not write a song about it. This is that song.”

Co-written and produced by GETH, the track pairs that family story with punchy hooks and a chorus that sticks.

A Coming-of-Age Record

Funny Little Feeling is the result of three years of work with Welsh co-writer Ifan Pritchard, co-writer and producer Dan McDougall, and collaborator Jules Oliver.

“It’s a coming of age album,” Alfie says. “It’s growing up, it’s falling in love and it’s heartbreak. I think ‘nostalgia’ is the perfect word for this album. It’s about trying to hold onto the things and people I love while accepting that everything is moving forward.”

Brighton Local

Alfie is one of a growing number of Brighton artists who built their audience online first. He began by uploading covers and now has more than one million followers across social media. His background is unusual for a pop artist: he trained in musical theatre, including a stint at the Royal Shakespeare Company, and only turned to songwriting during the pandemic. He is part of a new generation of Brighton artists coming through, backed by a city that still invests in grassroots music venues like The Pipeline.

The Story So Far

His 2022 track ‘Spiderwebs’ was an early breakthrough. A support slot with Only The Poets followed, which became 26 dates across Europe in 2024. He has released three EPs, most recently 2025’s All Dressed Up for Nothing. Like fellow rising act Aaron Rowe, he is now taking the step from EPs to bigger stages.
