Adventure Unlimited is a Brighton and Hove based charity offering outdoor adventure activities for everyone from children to corporate teams. It works with 100 volunteers and undertake projects that are designed to overcome the access barriers to children or young people with special needs, behavioural issues, from low income families or those who are isolated by location or circumstance. They provide one to one assistance for people with special needs and adapt their challenges for everyone regardless of their skill level. Founded in in 1977 Adventure Unlimited was originally created to teach drama to disadvantaged children from London in an outdoor environment.
Demand grew and they moved to Brighton to specialise in outdoor activities. As well as helping children, a training programme for unemployed adults was developed training them to become activity leaders. Some of their projects are New Heights, which is a partnership project with Hyde Plus Housing Association, which trains local young volunteers to deliver activities in five priority communities across the south east, such as Phoenix, Portslade, Bexhill, and Redhill. Adventure Unlimited also put on Award schemes, from a Brighton and Hove City Council Accredited Youth Award to an AQA Unit Award Scheme, a scheme that complements the National Curriculum.
