Amy McMillan and Lily Rigby are delighted to announce The Earth Laughs in Flowers at the The Regency Town House at 13 Brunswick Square, a joint show featuring hand-built ceramics and abstract oil paintings that speak to the artists’ individual relationship with intuition as a catalyst for creativity. Both artists have worked collaboratively over the past year, building their pieces with multiple layers to explore themes of movement and entrances into new phases of life. This bold, confronting, and celebratory show emerged from investigations into phenomena such as the stirrings of new life, flora and fauna, fertile grounds and bodies, and both natural and psychological cycles of transformation.
About Lily Rigby
Lily Rigby is a Brighton-based Artist who creates oil paintings that exist in the broad space between abstract and figurative.
After graduating from The University of the West of England in 2015, with a First Class BA Honours Degree in Illustration, Lily reengaged in her passion for painting. Lily has been in many group shows, including YAP Art London, Cameron Contemporary Art Hove, as well as collaborating with Award Winning European Architects Finkernagel Ross. Kevis House Gallery in Petworth began representing Lily’s work in 2020. She has exhibited her artwork in London, Brighton, Bristol, Chichester and Hungerford.

About Amy McMillan
Amy Mcmillan is an interdisciplinary Brighton based artist primarily working in ceramics and painting. Her figures inhabit the theatre or stage, a space to explore identity, to live out fantasy and to become comfortable with our shadow parts. She is concerned with the materiality of ceramic and painting, the ability to translate the illusion of a painting to a physical object in clay and to deftly dance between the two mediums. Her artworks are powerful and otherworldly, familiar yet confronting.
Recent group exhibitions include The Affordable Art Fair (March 22), Life on Venus, The Tub Hackney (2021) and FBA Futures, Mall Galleries (2019). She has recently taken part in a 6 week Independant Ceramics Residency at Arquetopia, Pueble, Mexico (March 22).

The Regency Town House
The Regency Town House at 13 Brunswick Square, is a grade 1 listed terraced home in the heart of Brunswick Town, a Georgian estate in the City of Brighton & Hove on the Sussex coast.
Built in the 1820s, the Town House is today being developed by staff and volunteers as a heritage centre and museum. Its activities are funded through The Brunswick Town Charitable Trust, a registered charity set up to support the project in 1994.
