Tucked away in Baker Street, All for Love and Love for All (ALALA) raises money to support children who have been affected by natural disasters. The charity’s team have worked on many projects abroad but this month they are going super-local with their good deeds.
The volunteer-run shop is currently appealing for donations for care packages for the homeless, which will be distributed on February 14. The care packages will include unisex warm winter clothing including hats, gloves and socks as well as toiletries, snacks, and juice. Each bag will also include an uplifting love message.
Christine Le Nahedic, the founder of ALALA, said: “I’m at a point where I have done so much for orphaned children in other countries, but I would like to give back to the community.”
Christine has been running the charity for more than six years and realised her calling when she was meditating and became overwhelmed by a feeling of love for others.
The bags of love scheme has been a success in the past, but this year Christine and her team want to help more people than ever before. “This is my little shop. It’s not big but it’s a community,” she said. “What I really like is that people choose to bring their donations here, they say ‘that is OUR charity shop’! ”
The shop is packed full of beautiful things and maintained by the hard work of Christine and her volunteers and donors. She makes a habit of putting uplifting messages around the shop and in the window, and said people often walk past specifically to collect her words of wisdom.
