As Brightonians know, we are exposed to some of the best food and eateries in the UK here, but it’s not always down to where the best food is when it comes to eating out. Nothing’s worse than getting excited to go out for dinner with your mates just to realise they’ve booked you into somewhere with no sense of atmosphere, or even worse, an inappropriate one. So after telling you where the best places to head to for dates and families are, we’re back offering you Brighton’s best restaurants for when you want to grab a bite with your pals.

1. Purezza @ St James Street

Located in the heart of Kemptown, Purezza is a pizza place with a casual yet sophisticated atmosphere which is perfect for friend-dates. As a bonus, they pride themselves on being the UK’s first plant based Italian restaurant, meaning it’s completely vegan/vegetarian friendly, too! Your pizzas will be cooked to perfection in a wood burning fire, as you and your pals gather round and chat – what could be better?

2. Kooks @ Gardner Street

This wholesome eatery is located in the heart of the North Laine. Serving up breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner and priding themselves on “the best music”, where could be better to sit back and catch up with friends? Kooks boasts a “boho bistro” menu including: beef burgers with twice cooked chips (pictured), crispy whitebait, beer battered haddock and plenty of desserts!

3. Polpo @ New Road

The award winning restaurant, Polpo, prides itself on providing fresh, satisfying and authentic Italian cuisine, with a staff of calm and collected waiters. The 2016 Michelin guide even said this in regards to the Venetian eatery: “Wonderfully fresh flavours… inherently satisfying dishes; staff are cool and calm and the atmosphere terrific.” A little more upmarket and a little less casual than the other restaurants on this list, Polpo is still a great place to gather round with friends.
