The 12,000 sq ft gym includes a workout space, a free weights area, two fitness studios, an infrared sauna, steam room, changing rooms, and a juice bar.
Accessed via a separate entrance to the west of the main members’ space, the Brighton Beach House gym, operated by ROX Life, has high industrial ceilings and state-of-the-art Technogym equipment, including resistance machines, Peloton bikes and a free weights area. A variety of cardio machines are positioned in front of the floor-to-ceiling glass windows that look out to sea.
Behind the main gym are two fitness studios with mirror panelling, ballet barres and reinforced ceiling hooks for boxing equipment. Soho House has partnered with local fitness studio ROX Life to offer members a timetable of more than 40 classes a week in these spaces, including its signature Strength, Flow and Reformer Pilates workouts. In addition, Brighton Beach House members will continue to have access to a selection of Ride and Reformer classes at ROX Life and Reformer Collective in Hove.
The large reception area has Art Deco-inspired interiors, dropped ceilings, mosaic floors and relaxed informal seating. A central dining table creates a space for members to unwind and socialise before and after training, with a marble-topped juice bar serving smoothies, cold press juices and protein shakes, as well as tea and coffee, protein bars, and a selection of Fresh Fitness Food meals to take home.
The changing rooms have 184 burl wood lockers, vanity units and rain forest showers stocked with signature Cowshed products. A central shared relaxation area with underfloor heating leads to an infrared sauna and steam room. There are also separate changing areas on the first floor of the House, which opened last year, leading to the outdoor dipping pool and terrace.
A handful of pieces by artists, born, based or trained in Brighton can be seen on display throughout the newly opened space as a continuation of the existing Local Collection at Brighton Beach House.
The gym officially opened on Saturday 4 November with a week-long programme of launch events, including a guided workout class with Alice Liveing, pop-up ice baths, vitamin IV infusions, and a gym bar takeover with local member and plant-based chef, Gemma Phillips Ogston.
‘Since opening the House, we’ve been looking at how to use the space in the adjacent building to best serve the needs of our members and create additional value for their membership. Having listened to feedback and after receiving a great reaction to our existing local wellness offering and partnership with ROX Life, we’re thrilled to expand our fitness
amenities further by introducing a Soho House gym. Every detail has been thought of, including how the sea views can be maximised to ensure the best exercise and wellness experience for our members.’ Velma Simmons, UK Membership & Communications Director, Soho House
The Brighton Beach House gym is open to Soho House members only. Local House membership is £1,320 a year and Every House membership is £2,750, offering access to all Soho House locations globally. Under 27 members benefit from savings until their 30th birthday. Classes at the Brighton Beach House gym will be complimentary for Soho House members until January 2024, after which they will be fee based.
