Strong winds have been forecast for this week as Sussex is set to catch the edge of Storm Doris, which was officially named at 6 am today.

An Amber National Severe Weather Warning has been issued for wind with gusts expected to reach 60-70mph in northern England and Wales.

Although the most severe parts of the storm are expected to miss Sussex, winds across the county could still reach between 50 and 60 mph on Thursday.

The Met Office forecast for the day in Brighton is light rain in the morning which will develop into bracing winds later in the day.

Things are looking better for the weekend in town; Saturday will be drizzly and breezy and Sunday will be dry with light cloud coverage.
