According to Nestpick Brighton has been ranked the seventh best LGBT city in the world – now that’s pretty impressive…
Brighton wasn’t the only UK city on the list though, beating it by two places at number 5 was London, which might surprise some as Brighton is often referred to as the ‘unofficial gay capital of the UK’. Manchester also came in at a respectable thirteenth with Bristol trailing behind at twentieth.
The cities were all given a score out of 25 focusing on criteria including: Dating, LGBT nightlife, general openness in the city, safety and LGBT rights, with Brighton scoring 21.8 overall.
Commenting on the project, managing director Ömer Kücükdere said: “It’s no coincidence that the world’s most exciting cities have a strong LGBT community, contributing much to the dynamism, openness and prosperity which defines locations such as Madrid, Amsterdam and Berlin”.
Brighton and Hove Pride takes place 4th-6th August.
