Brighton i360 Marks One Year Under Nightcap

A year in, Nightcap’s takeover of the seafront tower is starting to look like more than just a change of management.

On Sunday 8 March — International Women’s Day — Brighton i360 marked its first full year under hospitality group Nightcap PLC with a celebration that felt less like a corporate milestone and more like a very good reason to go up a tower.

Guests, partners and local press gathered in the glass pod as it rose above the seafront, sparkling wine in hand, the English Channel glittering to the south and the South Downs rolling away to the north. Below, Brighton carried on being Brighton.

The occasion was relaxed and convivial. Conversations moved easily between tables. Photographs were taken. Cake was presented.

Nightcap CEO Sarah Willingham addressed the room, speaking about women in business and what the next chapter might look like for the i360 — a venue that, under Nightcap’s stewardship, appears to be finding its confidence as something more than a viewing platform.

“We’re not just here to look at the view,” is the implicit promise — and on the evidence of Sunday, the team seems to mean it.

A beautifully crafted anniversary cake by Brighton pâtissier Julien Plumart was presented during the celebration as guests gathered inside the observation pod.

More Than a Tower

Since Nightcap took over in early 2024, the i360 has gradually expanded its offer beyond panoramic flights. Private hires, dining experiences, wellness sessions and events like this anniversary gathering have become part of the programme.

It is the kind of evolution that takes a landmark — already striking as an architectural feat, designed by David Marks and Julia Barfield of London Eye fame — and gives it reasons to return.

The Brighton i360 in Brief

Opened in 2016, Brighton i360 stands 162 metres tall, with its circular glass pod rising to around 138 metres above sea level. It sits opposite the skeletal remains of the West Pier, and on a clear day the views stretch far along the Sussex coast.

It has become one of the seafront’s most recognisable silhouettes. What it is still figuring out, it seems, is how to become one of its most essential experiences. Year two is where that story gets interesting. https://www.brightoni360.co.uk/
