Last week, they were naked to protest, this week they will be dressed and raising funds for charity. On Sunday, the cyclists will once more take over Brighton when the annual London to Brighton Bike Ride will finish down at Madeira Drive.
15,000 have signed up for the event this year. Kicking off in London at 6 am on Sunday morning, the first riders are expected to arrive in Brighton around 8.30 am.
But of course, as it is a charity bike ride, time doesn’t play a role as long as participants cross the finish line which will be down at Madeira Drive. The area will thus be closed for traffic all Sunday long.
Organizers and the Brighton and Hove City Council are currently preparing the seafront for the event. “There will be a beach village including a stage, a big screen, and public catering”, says organizer Alex Curtis.
The London To Brighton Bike Ride is one of the British Heart Foundation’s annual big fundraising events. Although the registration for this year’s event is now closed, you can still go down to Madeira Drive to support the riders and make a donation.
