We all have got a story to tell, some more interesting than others, but each one unique in its own way! As part of this year’s Brighton Festival, members of the so-called Storytelling Army will rock up in random places to tell you their stories.
So, be prepared whenever you take the bus, go to the local supermarket or do something totally ordinary between next Friday and Sunday! These pop-up performances can happen everywhere!
The guy with the blue cap two seats in front of you, the lady with that pink umbrella pushing her shopping trolley through the aisle with the tinned food, the guy who is sleeping in the street with all his belongings stuffed into supermarket bags… it could be anyone! People just like me and you, coming from all walks of life and from different areas of the city who have one thing in common: they all have a story to tell!

Matching this year’s Brighton Festival theme ‘Everyday Epic’, the stories they will share with us are deeply personal. They will be about the little everyday victories we experience in our lives like finally finding a new job.
Born from the idea to make the arts less exclusive and more social, this exciting project will be a world premier. It is carried out by Guest Director Kate Tempest and Nabokov theatre Artistic Director Stef O’Driscoll. Having worked closely with many different charities and organisations involved in helping drug addicts or homeless people, they want to give people the chance to get their voices heard.
The Storytelling Army will take over Brighton between Friday, May 26 and Sunday, May 28. Performances will be all over Brighton, so keep your eyes and ears open!
