A British rollercoaster enthusiast has set a new Guinness World Record by riding 55 rollercoasters in just one week.
Dean Stokes, 36, from Brighton, achieved the feat after visiting 32 theme parks across the UK in 16 days, clocking up a total of 108 rides. His journey began on 2 August at Brighton Palace Pier and concluded at Thorpe Park in Surrey.
Announcing his success on Instagram, Stokes wrote: “I did it. I even did an extra victory lap on Hyperia to celebrate.”
Originally, his goal was to ride 120 rollercoasters nationwide, but poor weather, including strong winds and heavy rain, forced several parks to close early in the attempt.
As there had been no previous record-holder for the category, Guinness World Records set Stokes a target of 30 rides in a week. He surpassed it comfortably with 55, earning the inaugural title.
Reflecting on the experience, Stokes said he was “overwhelmed” by the support he received, with fans joining him on rides at different parks. He explained that the challenge was about more than numbers: “I wanted to prove that people should just get out there and do more of what they love.”
Before this record-breaking attempt, Stokes had already built an impressive resume of thrills — over 100 rollercoasters across 25 parks in 10 countries.
