Brighton secured their place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at The Amex Stadium. The Seagulls stormed into a comfortable lead with two long-range efforts in the first half. Carlos Baleba opened the scoring with a stunning strike in the 14th minute, followed by Simon Adingra’s equally impressive goal in the 31st minute. Wolves struggled to find their footing in the early stages, but just before halftime, Goncalo Guedes gave his side hope by converting Matt Doherty’s cut-back in the 44th minute, reducing Brighton’s lead to 2-1.

The second half saw Wolves emerge with greater intensity, nearly leveling the score when Nelson Semedo’s cross was deflected goalwards, only for Josh Hinshelwood to make a crucial goal-line clearance. Guedes also had a golden opportunity to equalize but missed the target with just the goalkeeper to beat. Despite Wolves’ pressure, Brighton restored their two-goal cushion late on when Ferdi Kadioglu tapped in the rebound after Danny Welbeck’s shot was saved.

Wolves managed to pull one back through Tommy Doyle, whose shot went in off the underside of the crossbar, but it proved to be a mere consolation. Brighton held on to win 3-2, securing their spot in the last-16 of the competition.
