No, this is not news that the waters on our shore are washing up neurotransmitters involved in addiction and happiness, but that Brighton based band ‘Oceans‘ are set to release their latest single titled ‘dopamine’ which they describe as a “conceptual tune, open to interpretation”. For Oceans, the track is “an excerpt of euphoric dreams, which are naturally driven and brought to life by the human brain’s excitement chemical – DOPAMINE.”
Citing influences including the likes of Incubus, At The Drive In, Don Broco, Funeral For A Friend, and Black Peaks, this new single is packed full of twists and turns, driven by hypnotically intricate riffs that wash over the listener, pulling you out and into the rip-tide.
Determination and passion is the bread and vegan-butter of this predominantly Brighton based post-hardcore/alternative rock band. With Oceans only having one original member left, they are going harder and stronger than ever before. Flying the DIY flag and taking the underground UK rock scene head on with frequent gigging and four tours within the space of a successful year, Oceans are set to flood the mainlands with the tidal wave of sound they are known for.
“With excessive gigging, shuffling of band members, word of mouth and internet promotion, the band have matured both musically and physically, steadily building themselves a loyal fan base through to which to channel their cultivated sound into. ‘On & On’ demonstrates that transformation unquestionably, offering up a greater depth in their sound and confidence in their approach to achieve it. Most surprising of all, they’re unsigned.” Gig Soup
Oceans naturally emulate the musicalities of Incubus, the energy of Funeral For a Friend and the passion of While She Sleeps all to bring forward a captivating and spirited performance whilst maintaining vibrant originality throughout their songwriting.
An Ocean as vast and powerful as these guys has not hit until now. Don’t let music limit itself by genre, these guys certainly don’t. Listen to their dreamy new single ‘Dopamine’ and allow the intricate guitars and addictive bass line hold you in its watery trance.
‘Dopamine’ will be released on Sunday – September 24th and you can catch the band playing at their single release show at the Green Door Store on the 26th of September with special guests Idle Crooks & Englishmen, Rare Devices, and Scuffle.
“The five-piece have honed their own unique, refreshing sound that keeps the listener on their toes and pushes the boundaries of multiple genres.”Gig Radar
