Brighton’s Theatre Royal will be showing Nellie Limelight and the Oysters of Time to for young children and families to enjoy this Christmas and into some of the New Year. The children’s Christmas show is born from a longstanding tradition at the venue, with many families returning year after year for seasonal fun in beautiful promenade performances.

This show will take place all around the 200-year-old Theatre Royal building as interactive performances for the children to become completely immersed in. The performances pose some serious questions: What happens when a glow worm loses its glow? Who’s really in charge of the weather? What’s an Oyster’s favourite song?

Nellie Limelight and the Oysters of Time tells the story of theatre detective, Nellie Limelight, who receives an anonymous call for help. As she sets out to investigate, she begins to uncover a story of stolen jewels, pantomime villains, a broken time machine and a misplaced sea creature!

Nellie has arrived!

This magical tale unfolds around you as the audience follows Nellie around Theatre Royal in her most peculiar case to date. The show is suitable for children aged 4-7 and adults, who will love their involvement in the action as much as the little ones.

Nellie Limelight is brought to life by Florence Leon’s funny, physical and quirky performance; and Karl Williams plays Bert, the theatre’s maintenance man who is a mastermind at creating time machines. William’s also plays Bert’s demanding, selfish and mean sister, Dame Battie Baubles. Also starring in the show are some of the extraordinary puppets made by Andy Heath, whose puppet characters have been featured in Star Wars, Harry Hill – the movie, and Muppets Most Wanted.
