Design Brighton launches its new membership scheme

Design Brighton launches its new membership scheme
Hannah Midgley

A new local festival, Design Brighton, launched its membership scheme on the 3rd of April with a full house at Platf9rm’s new venue, located in Hove Town Hall.

The event attracted 130 people with a shared interest in the future of Brighton’s built environment and who wanted to learn more about the membership scheme.

The aim of the scheme is to bring together representatives from both the public and the private sector to shape Design Brighton, a four-day festival which will be coming to the city next year, in April 2020.

They will also be working together on a 10-year plan ‘for Greater Brighton to be the region of choice for delivering national and international design services within the urban realm.’

The scheme is open to representatives from the architecture, construction and property industry, but also to individuals or businesses with an interest in the development of the city.

We are delighted to launch our new membership scheme which we have already received a great deal of enthusiasm for, including from our first Supporting Partners – SWH and RLF – and business members – Potter Raper and Lewis and Co Planning!

Sophie Law-Smith, Festival Co-Founder

The project has the support of Brighton and Hove City Council and the University of Brighton. Some of the membership benefits will include a regular events calendar and four annual members only networking events in Brighton.

The project also has the support of the SWH Sussex Coast Offices:

We’re very excited about Design Brighton and jumped at the opportunity to become Supporting Partners.

For us, Design Brighton is worth supporting because it brings together representatives from the private and public sector with a joint interest of establishing Brighton and Hove as the place to be for cutting edge development, for the benefit of all who live, study and work in the city and its surrounding area.

David Martin, Regional Head of the SHW Sussex Coast Offices

The festival will take place from 1-4 April 2020. You can visit Design Brighton’s website for more information. Click here if you would like to become a member.
