An exciting new art collaboration between world-renowned DJ Carl Cox and acclaimed UK photographic artist Mark Vessey is set to open in Brighton.

The exhibition, hosted at the Enter Gallery on Bond Street, features a selection of key records from Cox’s extensive vinyl collection of over 150,000 records that have defined his illustrious career.

This collaboration visually narrates a musical journey spanning from funk, soul, disco, and rare groove to rave, techno, hip hop, electro, and pop.

“Each record I chose has a story behind it, and it was very emotional choosing the records that helped shape my journey,” Cox shared.

The artwork highlights some of the most iconic releases by artists such as Run DMC, Carrie Lucas, Fleetwood Mac, Duran Duran, Lil Louis, and Doug Lazy.

Each record selected by Cox will be accompanied by a meaningful story where he elaborates on its significance.

The gallery stated, “Many of these records played a pivotal role in (Cox’s) early days as a mobile DJ and his rise to fame as the ‘Three Deck Wizard.'”

‘Trust and Time’

Vessey, celebrated for his work exploring and celebrating icons of pop culture, expressed his honor in collaborating with Cox and delving into his archive.

“Carl Cox is unique in sewing together multiple generations through his passion for music. My hope in photographing them together is that they visually reflect his love and shared history back to us,” Vessey said.

Cox added, “Watching Mark work really makes me understand how you can look deeper into art. It makes me realize what a privilege and responsibility I have when sharing my love of music with the dancefloor.”
