Over the past three years, it has been our aim to create a microcosm of Brighton life. From unique people to lively events, Brighton Journal covers it all, offering our readers a snapshot of the day-to-day excitement that comes with living, working and existing in a city like Brighton.

Since Brighton Journal’s beginning in 2015, the magazine has gone from strength-strength and has been lucky enough to work with some fantastic people, as well as cover some of the most unusual events that have happened in the city, all under the watchful eye of Editor-In-Chief and founder, Elin Arnar.

Speaking about why she decided to leave her print magazine at home in Iceland behind and launch Brighton Journal, Elin said:

“I sometimes wonder why I started it myself! I only intended to stay in Brighton for year while I was enjoying my maternity leave with my youngest daughter, but I liked it so much that I decided to stay. Being a publisher I decided to sell my shares in my printed magazine in Iceland and enter the future by starting an online publication here in Brighton. I was fascinated by the diversity of the people here and wanted to celebrate that more by publishing their work and stories as well as try to spread the word about all the amazing events that are too many of for just one person to stay on top of!”

Since arriving in Brighton this summer, The Ivy has wowed it’s guests with stunning interiors and delicious food, and has quickly found it’s niche in our thriving city. No detail has been missed in this beautiful restaurant – even it’s toilets have become the focus point of many an Instagram post.

  1. I remember queuing up in the post office, that is now the Ivy, numerous times throughout my childhood. I can vividly remember the layout and loved people watching and playing there too. I would love the opportunity to dine at the Ivy as I have only popped my head in for a little peek. What a fantastic transformation. I hope I win!

  2. I live in Brighton and when you walk around the Lanes area, all the aromas you take in makes me feel like I’m abroad! Add to that a glorious summer? Glorious! I haven’t been able to afford a foreign holiday in a while, so it makes up for it a bit! And God, does it get the taste buds flowing!

  3. I would like to take my mother in law. She loves being taken out for something to eat, but she has nether had the chance to go somewhere as special as the Ivy. I hear otherwise food is fantastic and the service is really exceptional.
