Brighton’s well-loved DJ Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim, is set to open Hove’s LagoonFest 2019 next weekend. Following last year’s success, LagoonFest will be returning to Hove Lagoon on Saturday 7th September to raise funds for its new ambitious planting scheme.
The scheme aims to soften and improve the landscape of the Lagoon. The scheme will also include natural plantings, wildflowers and a herb garden, aiming to attract more people and wildlife to the much-loved space.
The event has been organised by Friends of Hove Lagoon (FoHL), who are excited to announce this year’s lineup.
The festival promises to be a fantastic day out for all the family, with plenty of live music and local artists on site throughout the day. You can get involved with skateboard lessons, stand up paddle board races and enter your pooch in the ‘Coastway Vets Dog Show’.
There will also be a raffle and tombola with over fifty amazing prizes up for grabs. These include dinner, bed and breakfast at the Ginger Pig, afternoon tea at The Grand, spa treatments and signed books by Peter James, Abie Longstaff, Dorothy Koomson and Julian M. Armstrong. Enter for a chance of also winning vouchers for restaurants, shops, hair, fitness, entertainment and much more.

LagoonFest is a true community festival and we’ll once again be bringing together hundreds of volunteers and thousands of participants from across Hove and beyond. It’s all about showing off what a great place the Lagoon is and raising funds to improve our area.
The design is by Brighton designer Nicholas Dexter and the landscaping will be by Nigel Bowcock of Acre Landscapes.

This is a great project to be working on and I’m delighted to be a part of it, particularly having lived in Brighton for over 20 years and knowing Hove Lagoon so well. I’m passionate about creating simple, natural and ecologically friendly outdoor spaces and getting people closer to nature. In all our designs, we aim to protect, restore and reintroduce wildlife and wild nature to our landscapes.
FoHL raised £8,000 for the planting scheme last year, and are hoping this year will be equally as successful.
The hope is that this project will be a springboard to redevelop other areas in Hove that need an uplift, including the lawns along Hove seafront.
