Filming vans for a Hollywood actor’s new TV show were spotted in the city.

Universal production vehicles are parked near Kingsway, Hove, and are preparing to continue filming for Sky Atlantic series ‘The Death of Bunny Munro’ next week.

The series is based on Nick Cave’s darkly comic 2009 novel and stars Matt Smith in the titular role.

Speaking about the series, Mr Smith said: “To work alongside Nick Cave on The Death of Bunny Munro feels like a great honour. It’s a brilliant exploration of love, grief, and chaos.

“At its heart a deep, difficult, and tender story about a father and son, coping with loss and change. Clerkenwell Films and Sky feels like the perfect home to make such a bold story and Pete has delivered such wonderful scripts, both funny and heart breaking in equal measure.

“I can’t wait to collaborate with Isabella and begin the journey with everyone at Clerkenwell.”

The six-part series will follow sex addict, salesman and womaniser Bunny Munro and his young son Bunny Junior as they struggle to cope with his wife Libby’s suicide.

Audiences will see the father and son embark on a road trip across southern England and deal with their grief differently.

Mr Cave said: “Finally, someone with the courage to take on this unholy tale. I am thrilled that Sky and Clerkenwell Films are bringing Bunny to life, in all his flawed glory, and I can think of nobody better than Matt Smith to play him.”

The show’s producers are Clerkenwell Films and Sky Studios, with Smith and Cave as the executive producers.

The TV adaptation is written by BAFTA winner Pete Jackson and directed by Isabella Eklöf.

The programme has been filming in the city for four weeks, and Sky has not announced a release date.

Matt Smith is known for playing the ‘Doctor’ in Doctor Who, a role which earned him critical acclaim and a BAFTA nomination.

He has also starred in The Crown and House of the Dragon.
