Love Supreme Jazz Festival will return next year from 5th to 7th July.
Love Supreme Jazz Festival have announced the first three acts of the 2019 festival as Gladys Knight, Jamie Cullum, and Snarky Puppy. The festival is back for its eighth edition, bringing jazz music from all over the world to Glynde Place, a stunning location in the South Downs.
The festival invites you to sit back, relax, and watch some of the most talented jazz, funk, and soul musicians from across the globe and from multiple disciplines. Love Supreme offers music, poetry, spoken word, films, classic album playbacks, kids activities, and even end-of-the-night jam sessions for your amusement.
Winner of seven Grammy awards and with a career spanning over five decades, Gladys Knight, was announced this morning as one of the main stage acts. The ‘Empress of Soul’ will be making her debut at the music festival on the Main Stage for a Saturday slot.
Love Supreme Jazz Festival Founder, Ciro Romano, said: “Looking out from the main stage at the huge crowd enjoying every minute of Earth Wind & Fire’s closing night set this summer was an incredible moment. The whole weekend was full of similar moments and the festival delivered on so many levels this year.
“Confirming Jamie Cullum, Gladys Knight and Snarky Puppy for next summer is a fantastic start and a big step towards our aim of delivering an even better event for 2019.”
Also announced this morning was jazz-pop singer-songwriter, Jamie Cullum, who will be playing the Main Stage on Sunday. On Facebook, Love Supreme said: “Jamie Cullum is both an amazing live performer and an incredible ambassador for jazz and we’re elated to have him back.”
In 2016, Love Supreme was commended as one of the best jazz music festivals in Europe. The Sussex festival has continued to generate curiosity over the years, with huge artists playing, such as Earth Wind and Fire, Elvis Costello, Mavis Staples, and George Benson.
Texas fusion ensemble, Snarky Puppy, are set to headline the Big Top stage on the Saturday night of the festival next year. Their jazz-rock-funk sound centring around their bassist, Michael League, will return to Love Supreme for the first time in four years.
The festival has five stages hosting a wealth of jazz musicians from contemporary backgrounds, to funk and soul, and modern-day adaptations of jazz. ‘The Bandstand’ stage, coordinated by the Verdict Jazz Club, hosts the best jazz groups from East Sussex and Brighton.
Love Supreme Jazz Festival will take place from Friday 5th July to Sunday 7th July 2019. Early bird tickets go on sale tomorrow (Thursday 22nd Nov) for Love Supreme 2019 at 9am. Tickets can be purchased from the Love Supreme website.
