Good News! Brighton Marathon’s Getting an Event Village

For the first time in the event’s history, spectators and runners at Brighton Marathon are getting an Olympic-esque event village.

The temporary structure will be set up in a central seafront spot on Madiera Drive for marathon weekend next month (April 7th – 9th) to accommodate the 100,000 visitors expected at the events. It will welcome not only marathon runners and supporters, but also those taking part in the Cancer Research UK Kids and Teens Mini Mile entrants as well as those for the BM10K.

The idea is to bring all participants and supporters together in one convenient location. The event will be shown live on big screens, and spectators can enjoy a drink while they wait for their loved ones to complete the course. For runners, there will also be a preparation and recovery area where participants can chat with training experts, get a massage and visit the shops featuring the very latest in running products.

Tom Naylor, managing director of Grounded Events – which runs the Marathon weekend, said: “Moving the Brighton Marathon Weekend Exhibition to become part of the event village on the beach at Madeira Drive creates the perfect place to come and be inspired before your race and to celebrate with friends and family afterwards. The whole weekend will be a hive of activity for our participants and their supporters. We can’t wait to welcome them to the 2017 Brighton Marathon Weekend there.”

There will also be a ‘Charity Village’ in place on Sunday, where more than 40 charities will meet to congratulate their runners when they complete the marathon or 10k.

The Event Village opening hours are:

  • Friday, April 7: 10am – 7pm (Race pack collection opens 11am – 7pm)
  • Saturday, April 8: 9.30am – 7pm (Race pack collection opens 10.00am – 7pm)
  • Sunday, April 9: Race Day: 8.30am – 6pm (No race pack collection on the day)
