This Halloween Pier 2 Pier are bringing their Hallowclean Silent Disco Beach Clean back for its third year running! So put on your costume, grab your headphones and get ready to groove to some spooky tunes.
Halloween usually means costumes and candy, but a lot of that ends up as plastic waste. According to Pier 2 Pier each year 8 million tons of plastic are dumped into the ocean. This kills 1 million seabirds and 100,000 marine mammals. With this event they aim to make a difference and make Brighton part of the solution, not the problem.
The event is on October 27th and is open to all ages. It’s also a free, drop-in event so you can come along anytime between 1-3pm.
This event will include a costume station and a costume competition, as well as a bubble-bar making workshop with LUSH Brighton. There will also be free goodies and an opportunity to meet marine conservation experts.
Costumes are definitely encouraged, but in keeping with the event guests are asked to buy second hand and re-use as much as possible when putting their costumes together. They are also asked to avoid glitter, as the plastic in it can be very damaging to marine ecosystems.
Important Information: Deposits will be required for headphones (£10, £20, £50 or photo ID) and please bring your own waste bad. Grabbers and gloves will be provided. For more information, check out the event page here.
