Whether you’re working all summer, looking after the kids or simply can’t afford to jet off abroad on holiday, missing out on trips during the summer months can leave us all a little green eyed from time to time. But don’t fear – Just because you can’t quite get a seat on that plane to the South of France doesn’t mean you ought to miss out on all the perks that come with a holiday abroad. So we’ve come up with a few tips on how to holiday from home if you’re stuck in Brighton this summer.

1. Go For A Dip
Just because you’re in England doesn’t mean you should be deprived of taking a dip to relieve yourself of the sticky summer day. With the beach at our fingertips and several local swimming pools, where better to go for a swim than right here at home? Just be sure to be safe and stay in lifeguarded zones if you’re swimming at the beach!

2. Take An Evening Stroll
What else feels more like summer than a leisurely evening stroll past shops, restaurants and people? Head out alone, with friends or with your partner and take to the streets to absorb the summery atmosphere. Try to time your stroll with the evening’s sunset for ultimate photo ops.

3. Stop At A Wine Bar
After your leisurely stroll in the evening heat, why not swing by a wine bar for a pause and a chat? Do as Italians do and people watch with a glass of vibrant Aperol Spritz or a light glass of rosé.

4. Experiment With Flavours
You may have your favourite local eateries here in Brighton, but it’s never too late to experiment. If you usually go for Italian food try dipping your toes into Indian, Mexican or Spanish instead. Nothing says summer like tapas in the sun…

5. See The Sights
Living in Brighton doesn’t mean that you’ve seen everything there is to see here. Brighton Dome, the Royal Pavilion, the Toy & Model Museum, the i360…The list goes on. How many of Brighton’s beautiful landmarks have you truly explored? To put you in the holiday spirit try something new – Go on a tour, visit a museum or simply pop in and out of shops you’ve never seen before.

6. Browse The Markets
Going abroad often means plenty of markets to find souvenirs for your pals back home, but here in Brighton we have plenty of markets right here on our doorstep. Visit The Open Market or browse the old books on Upper Gardner Street’s Saturday market. Maybe you could even find trinkets for your friends to give you that real holiday feeling.
