How to stay safe at Brighton Pride 2019

Widely acknowledged as the country’s most popular Pride event, you can expect Brighton to be extremely busy this weekend.

Brighton Pride’s sole ethos is to promote tolerance and diversity and support local charities and good causes. However, it is completely understandable if you feel overwhelmed and slightly nervous at the prospect of busy streets and loud noises.

But fear not, the city has a wide support network available to comfort any fears or anxieties you might be experiencing.

First aid, medical help or support

Medical support will be available in the town centre and at Preston Park.

St John Ambulance

Medical help is available from treatment centres are available in the ticketed areas. A steward will be able to direct you or assist you in getting to them.

  • Marine Parade (opposite Madeira Place)
  • Pleasure Gardens (Old Steine Gardens)

Brighton Station walk-in health centre

With extended opening hours over Pride for treatment, information and advice. You can walk in or make an appointment, there’s no need to be a registered patient.

YMCA Safe Space

A quiet space for anyone who is feeling distressed, intoxicated, injured, has lost friends or is unable to get home and needs support or medical help.

Cascade Creative Recovery coffee shop

A safe, recovery focused space for anyone who needs support or a quiet space.

Water

It is really important to stay hydrated in the heat. You can take empty refillable water bottles into Preston Park, Pride Village Party and Pride Pleasure Gardens and use one of the water refill points.

There are 5 refill points across the park. See map for locations or look for the blue flags.

Pride Village Party
Water is available from all participating PVP venues as per their license conditions.
There are also premises who are part of the Refill campaign – Diva, My Coffee Story, Starbucks, Wheat and Beans

Pride Pleasure Gardens
Refill point available on Old Steine.
